8" X 12" Static Shielding Reclosable Bags 100/Box
GPU & PCIe Expansion Card Static Shielding Bags 8x12
These 8 x 12 in. static shielding reclosable bags provide complete Faraday cage protection for GPU cards, PCIe expansion boards, and similarly sized sensitive electronic components. A buried metal-in construction encases a conductive aluminum shield layer between two static dissipative polymer layers, blocking electrostatic discharge from both internal and external sources.
Specs: 8 x 12 in. | 3 mil | Buried Metal-In Static Shielding | 100/Box | ANSI/ESD S541 · EIA 625 · ANSI/ESD S20.20
Applications
Designed for packaging PCIe expansion cards, GPU boards, wireless network adapters, sound cards, and other half-height or half-length add-in cards during storage, shipping, and field service operations. Also suitable for small development boards, test fixtures, and other ESD-sensitive assemblies fitting within the 8 x 12 in. footprint.
Features
- Buried metal-in Faraday cage construction blocks electrostatic charges from inside and outside the bag
- 3 mil zip top reclosable closure — resealable without tools or heat equipment
- 50% transparent film allows visual part identification without opening the bag
- Three layers of anti-static protection guard the enclosed component throughout handling
- Yellow static shielding notice stamped on each bag for handling identification
- Contains no amines, amides, or N-Octanic acid — polycarbonate safe
Material Notes
These bags are constructed from a multi-layer co-extruded film with an interior and exterior of static dissipative polymer and a buried conductive aluminum interlayer. This metal-in design differs from metalized (metal-out) construction, which provides less consistent shielding at stress points and seams. The film contains no corrosive outgassing compounds, making it safe for use with polycarbonate components and optical assemblies.
Use Case Notes
The 8 x 12 in. format accommodates most standard PCIe half-height and half-length cards, including single-slot GPU cards under 8 inches in length, wireless NICs, audio interfaces, and specialty I/O expansion cards. Field service technicians and depot repair facilities commonly use this size for component-level replacements during system servicing.
Common Questions
Q: Are these approved for use in ESD-controlled workplaces?
A: Yes. These bags meet the electrical and physical requirements of ANSI/ESD S541 and EIA 625, and are ANSI/ESD S20.20 program compliant. They have been tested per MIL-STD-3010 4046 and ANSI/ESD STM11.11.
Q: How does this differ from a standard anti-static bag?
A: Standard pink anti-static (dissipative) bags only dissipate surface charge — they do not shield. These static shielding bags contain a conductive metal interlayer that forms a Faraday cage, protecting the enclosed component from external electrostatic fields as well.
Q: Can these bags be reused?
A: Yes. The zip top reclosable closure allows repeated opening and resealing during inspection, kitting, or partial-use operations without additional sealing equipment.
Why Buy
At 100 bags per box, this format supports MRO replenishment, depot repair, and field service kit restocking at scale. The 8 x 12 in. footprint covers the most common PCIe half-length card geometries in a single SKU, simplifying inventory management across mixed-card service environments.
