Hydraulic Cylinder & Machine Shaft Poly Bags 14" x 30"

These 14" x 30" flat poly bags at 6 mil are engineered for industrial component bagging where standard 2–4 mil bags fail under the weight, surface hardness, and geometry of precision machined parts. The 6 mil extra-heavy gauge handles hydraulic cylinder barrels, machine spindles, drive shafts, and similarly dense, long-profile components without puncture or tear-out during handling and storage.

Specs: 14" x 30" | 6 mil | LDPE | 250/Box

Applications

Designed for bagging hydraulic cylinder barrels and piston rods, CNC lathe spindles and turned shafts, pump shafts and impeller sub-assemblies, long cast iron or steel castings, precision-ground bar stock (12–26" sections), valve body and actuator assemblies, and bearing journal components requiring heavy-duty dust and moisture protection. Suitable for both shipping and extended warehouse storage applications.

Features

6 mil gauge resists puncture from machined surface edges, turned flange lips, keyway slots, and threaded end protrusions common on shaft and cylinder components. 30" length accommodates components up to approximately 26–28" in a single straight bag (with closure allowance). Open-top configuration allows quick insertion without bag stretching. Heat-sealable across the full 14" width, or closable with tape, zip ties, or shrink band overwrap.

Material Notes

Manufactured from 100% virgin LDPE resin at a nominal 6 mil gauge. At 6 mil, LDPE provides the maximum puncture and tear resistance available in the standard flat poly bag product range, making it appropriate for dense, heavy, or surface-hardened machined components. For highly abrasive or sharp-edged parts, combine with VCI paper interleave for corrosion protection during storage. All gauge ratings are nominal.

Use Case Notes

The 14" opening accommodates shafts or cylinders up to approximately 12–13" in outside diameter. For components with flange diameters larger than 12", insert the flanged end first and tape the top closure around the flange for a snug seal. The 250/box count is appropriate for machine shop, hydraulic repair shop, and industrial parts distributor inventories where frequent bagging of long, heavy components is a standard operation.

Common Questions

Q: Is 6 mil enough for heavy steel shafts or will they puncture the bag?

A: 6 mil LDPE handles smooth or lightly machined surfaces reliably. For components with sharp keyway edges, spline teeth, or coarse turned surfaces, wrap the sharp area with a layer of VCI paper or foam wrap before bagging to prevent puncture concentration.

Q: How long is component protection maintained in these bags?

A: LDPE provides effective dust, moisture, and handling-soil protection for the duration of normal warehouse or transit storage. For corrosion-sensitive components, add VCI paper or use a VCI bag instead, as LDPE alone does not inhibit rust formation.

Q: Can these be used for components exceeding 30" in length?

A: Components longer than approximately 26–28" will require either two bags applied from opposite ends and overlapped, or a longer bag size. For extended-length components, custom-cut poly tubing may be a more efficient option.

Why Buy

The 250/box count supports sustained industrial packaging operations at machine shops, repair facilities, and OEM parts distributors. The 6 mil specification eliminates the need to double-bag heavy machined components, reducing material handling time and per-part packaging cost. The 14" x 30" format covers the most common shaft and cylinder sub-assembly size ranges without requiring multiple bag SKUs.
